Reg was out of town for the weekend at a family reunion (that I couldnt attend due to class), so it has been a relatively quiet, peaceful, solo weekend. It is amusing how still the house is when it's just Oscar and me! Other than Friday night- which induced all sorts of ridiculous at the annual Pittsburgh magazine "40 under 40" party (perhaps more on that later), it was been a weekend to create calm, beautiful stillness.
Now is a perfect time to update this blog on our fabulous halloween soiree! I know I said that the housewarming was our LAST party of 09, but I couldnt stay away from the hostessing for long! It started as a casual invite to the neighbors to come over to pass out candy, and turned into a 60's-MadMen-themed event. You know how this girl loves a good themed costume party! Approx 5 other couples came over, dressed in their most fabulous tie-bars and crinolin, lucky strike cigs behind the ear, ready for some scotch-drinking fun.
we served early 1960's food: meatloaf, ambrosia salad, popcorn balls, pigs in a blanket, sherbet punch, etc.
If you watch the show, you know that the key players are Don and Betty Draper, the "perfect" all-american couple, Joan Holloway the slightly bitchy office manager with hips like that, the "office men" especially Roger Sterling, and Peggy Olson.
We did our best attempts at impersonating not only the outfits, but the language, voice, and all around attitude. Thanks to Eons in Shadyside for a ton of costume help!
So, how'd we do?

No caption really needed. Except Im obviously very in love with this man!
a few more of our guests.
and finally....

the actual cast. I think we did pretty well for ourselves
what a swell night.....
I can't believe that we live so far apart from each other, and it seems we live parallel lives. HILARIOUS entry. You costume is perfect. As for ethics, I took a Philosophy class at UCLA called Ethics and Morality, and it was the only time I've ever gotten a D. Ever.
