We rented a small one bedroom apartment on Air-bnb for the week. The cost is much less than any comparable hotel (you'd be hard pressed to get the space, let alone the authenticity), and it allowed us to really relax. It was wonderful! In Le Marais (3rd arrondissment), a neighborhood known for small shops, restaurants, and galleries. Not too many tourist attractions so we could really absorb. Historically aristocratic, the architecture of the neighborhood is gorgeous. We were steps from a metro, but tended to walk around the city. The benefit of having a week's vacation is you don't need to rush. Plus we had to work off those pastries!
