Holiday prep 2013

Thanksgiving through New Year's Day is my favorite time of year. The over-eating, incessant replaying of favorite holiday pop songs (Mariah and the creepy-if-you-really-listen-its-kinda-about-date-rape song), shopping, cooking, drinking too much with friends you see too little, not to mention scarves and sweaters and snuggling (oh my!)

I've realized we have some emerging holiday Gillefond traditions. First- we decorate the tree Thanksgiving weekend (cue the holiday music!) and start watching classic movies. Always in the que are White Christmas, Elf, Polar Express (a new favorite for Mathilda). Missing from this list you may notice are Charlie Brown, Rudolph, and The Grinch because they aren't available on netflix or itunes! Get with it people!!!

Holiday card photo shoot outtakes...

We went to Phipps Conservatory with 2 families of friends, and my friend Cari got the best photos of the three girls (who are fast becoming besties, and their moms couldnt be more thrilled!)

nothing is cuter. nothing.

except maybe this. this photo may be cuter. I can't even handle all of the stripes!

The next day was our co-op cookie exchange (more on the sugar + wine theme). It's really neat to think about our first cookie exchange when none of us had children. Now almost every co-op member has at least one kid, many of whom are at an age where they can play (or eat) together.

I know this photo is blurry, but I thought both of their expressions were classic

cookies!

We've got early Christmas x3 this weekend, then off to the LaFond's for the "real day". Ive been trying to use Santa as a bribe (threat?) to get Mathilda to behave, which resulted in the following exchange this morning:

me: Tilly, you have to be a good girl, Santa is watching!
Mathilda: No he isn't.
me: yes he is!
Mathilda: Where is he?
me: the North Pole
Mathilda: He can't be watching me! He's not here!
me: ummm, he still knows if you're being bad
Mathilda: No he doesnt

She makes nothing easy!
