Summer!
We had the annual co-op summer potluck dinner this weekend. All my foodie friends made culinary wonders to share, and share we did! The theme was local and seasonal. My theme was also- the least time consumed for the most taste! I made rosemary olive focaccia bread with two dips- white bean, lemon, mint; and tomato, cucumber, basil, olive, feta.

| I used the last jar of tomatoes canned last summer for the tomato dip. |
Mathilda stayed up till 930 eating, playing with our host's dog (once she stopped being deathly afraid of him!)

Taking a little break between bites. I hear ya, kid, eating food this good is exhausting!

The next day was the Great Highland Park Yard Sale. Yes, we made some cash clearing out the basement, but the best part was perusing other yards. My favorites were definitely the antique wheelchair and mud boots (below) and another person selling applications for parrot adoptions!
 |
| could not figure out how to incorporate this antique wheelchair into our decor but OH how I wanted to! Reminds me of something from that Shirley Temple movie where her father is injured in the Boar War...remember?? |

I love our East End community. The food, friends, walkability- it is an ideal neighborhood for us at this time in our lives. We cant go anywhere without running into someone we know (probably also with a stroller and/or a dog) and that's actually a good thing.
