Pride 2012

Wow! Pride in Pittsburgh!

Ooohhh it's going to be such a fun weekend!

What? It's still ok to openly discriminate against gay people?  That is not cool. Not cool at all.

Hooray pride! Wearing my annual pride dress gift from Bridgette (& Ryan & baby Mabel!)
To our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered friends and family.  We are proud of you. We are proud to have you in our lives.  We are proud that Mathilda will grow up loving you and you loving her.  We are proud to have you in our daughter's life. We celebrate you, your love, your perseverance for equality despite the shit storm of hatred, bigotry, and discrimination you face on a daily basis. Thanks for being you and thanks for being a part of our lives.

What better way to celebrate the gay than with a good, ol' fashioned rock-n-roll concert? Melissa Etheridge baby! I've loved her since I learned my first C chord.  She brought her bluesy rock band and her sandpaper meets sweet almond oil voice to Liberty Ave as part of Pride Pittsburgh Saturday night.  Thanks to Leah being a phenomenal last minute stand-in babysitter, we got to enjoy 2 hours of fantastic music and energy. We sang, we danced, we drank beer in cans and counted mullets (thankfully not too many!).  Sadly, we missed the parade the next day, but our friends represented the UPMC Voice Center and the transgendered voice program!

Yep- that's her, Melissa Etheridge! In leather pants!! rock star.
