play ball!

Baseball season has begun! The pirates suck (again) and that's all I'll say about that. The Hebrew Oilers, however, don't suck! In fact, they are awesome! The Oilers (named after a line in the movie, The Natural) are a real wooden bat baseball league in Pittsburgh, part of the National Adult Baseball Association. Reggie played last year, and took over as the manager this year. He has held weekly practices, had to go to a draft, arrange the roster, etc. I don't know if I've ever seen him so committed or excited about something. Did I mention that it takes up a LOT of his time? It does, but I think it just might be all worth it (don't tell him I said that!).

I went to my first Oiler game of the season yesterday. And my man did not disappoint! (I know I am embarrassing him now- sorry babe!) Last inning, full count, Reg up to the plate. The batter before him, a known slugger, purposefully walked, the pitcher erroneously assuming Reg would be an easy strike out and the game over. Not so fast! Reg got a hit, driving in the winning run, and keeping his team in first place in the league! It was so great to watch!
I managed to sneak a picture of him in his uniformed glory, first-base coaching:

I know what you're thinking, ladies. And I have no problem objectifying my hubby in his baseball gear. He's a hottie!
Congrats, Reg!
Go Oil!!!
