ready for mojitos!

I think I can officially say it- the backyard is ready for company! The fence painted, garden planted, patio put in, and finally this weekend we were blessed with 48 hours of sunshine so I was able to paint the visible foundation, basement storm doors, and part of the porch all one color, instead of the 4 shades of blue it was before. Eventually we will paint the floor and the ceiling of the back porch to match as well, but those aren't quite as atrocious as the rest.

A pictorial review!

This is what the back looked like when we moved in last June- no patio, mismatched broken bricks and concrete, multiple shades of gray on the foundation. We also had to cement the foundation last summer because we live in Pittsburgh and apparently that means our basement was destined to flood. Our not so smooth cement job made it even uglier:

Below: patio in, still nothing painted:

This weekend, we matched the paint that is on the stairs of the porch (yaye home depot paint matcher!) to paint the storm doors and the awful cemented foundation, so it's all one glorious color.

It's a bit hard to tell in the photo, but the gray is sort of an earthy-taupey shade. The cafe set is from my grandmother's back patio (Thanks, Grandmom!) and once served as my kitchen table in my first post-college apartment. Painted it black (it was shabby chic white- ick) and it's finally it its true glory.

Oscar's eye view from the corner of the yard towards the house:

view from the back porch (thanks Reggie's mom for the planter up against the fence!)
And one more photo- cause why not?! (raised garden bed off to the left! yaye crops!)

All of the crops are in! Oscar's eye view of the garden gnome and tomato plant!

Finally ready to have my girlfriends over for our weekly evening cocktail hour(s). I think mojitos with fresh mint from the garden is definitely in order
