11 months!

11 months!

This past month has been a busy and somewhat tumultuous one for you, dear Mathilda. You have amazed us with your new language abilities.  You can say "mama" "dada" "doggy" "baby" and maybe "ball" (once) as well as "meow", "mooo" and "baaaa".  I don't have video representation because the productions are spontaneous, and for the most part you don't say them on command.
You have decided to create your own order of reaching gross motor developmental milestones.  You don't crawl forwards (you've started to go backwards in "real" crawl position) or sit up from laying down, but you love to walk holding our hands and cruise along the furniture.  You get very upset that you can't do more physically and there have been a lot of frustrating moments and tears.  Just last week you pulled yourself up to standing for the first time. Where was my video camera?? You were so proud of yourself.  I clapped for you, you clapped for you.  It was fantastic!

Standing with only one hand! Look how small elephant is here!
You transitioned to the "infant 2" classroom at school, which has not been easy for you.  You really miss your old teachers and are a bit overwhelmed being in a room where you are no longer the oldest and must contend with rambunctious, very mobile, toddlers.  They transitioned you slowly, but the days still seemed long and tiring.  You have been particularly clingy to me this week, and your naps have been epic.  Thankfully, your fussiness seems to be subsiding, but you still aren't too cool with the other kids always wanting to touch your hair bows!  You have started to "cruise" along the furniture, so I'm sure you'll be keeping up with your classmates in no time!
Cruising, tongue out in concentration!
You continue to amaze us with your culinary tastes.  You eat almost everything we eat.  We've discovered a few foods you don't like (salmon, hard boiled egg yolk), and a few continual favorites (mushrooms, apples, bananas, beef stew).  You don't use utensils (unless banging the table and throwing on the ground counts as using) but you drink from a cup by yourself- even without the sippy lid! You still love music and dancing and rock out playing your 5-key pianos.
You are growing a lot- more in height than girth, I think.  We got you a new big girl car seat so you aren't as squished.

I finally completed 2 craft projects I started before  she was born. Yep- last March.  A bulletin board for photos, her school art, etc., and an M for her door, covered in the same fabric as the pillow in all of her monthly photos.
