Friends!
I know I have posted about the cool food staples co-operative of which I am a member. It has encouraged me to try making new things (pie crusts, dried green beans, etc) and given good reason to resurrect staples I love to make but don't always have the need (focaccia bread, pesto, cookies!)
My love of sweets has hit an all time high in these last few weeks of pregnancy. Traditionally, my favorite sweets are dark chocolate, oatmeal raisin cookies, and the like- nothing too sugary. I do love cake, as you may recall from a past post about the "Let them eat cake" party we attend each year. This year, I called upon the ladies of the food co-op to enter the LTEC cake baking contest. We have some amazing baketresses in the group (I am not one of them) so I knew it would be a chance for me to learn more about baking, and who doesn't love a little friendly competition centered around buttercream.
Our newest member Kate writes a super cool blog all about Pittsburgh and featured our group before she even participated in her first food exchange- that's love!
