self-portrait

Back in September, the theme for Mathilda's class was something like "all about me".  I saw on the agenda that they were going to paint self-portraits.  I'm not sure Mathilda has a sense of self, let alone the ability to paint.  But, behold!  Her 5 month old finger-painted self-portrait:

They actually have flesh-colored paint.  Her little multi-racial class had brown paintings and peach paintings, and Tilly's mix of them all.  Her teacher had them displayed on the wall until recently.  Yes, it is in a frame in our living room.  And yes, I may have held back tears when I saw it.
