back baby updates

This is me yesterday, a few days into week 13, and the start of month 4!  I've started just this weekend to have to wear the "belly band" aka most amazing product- so that I can unbutton the top button of my jeans, but they stay on. It's like a tube top that goes around your belly and pants.  Not a really amazing photo, but a definite rounding to my belly, and, well, other changes getting me ready for breast feeding ;-).

Ok, another entry from a few weeks ago before the word was out:

9-8-10
WEEKS have gone by! I haven’t been writing because it is sometimes too much to describe all of our excitement every single day.  But this week was another amazing moment in the life of- “oh my god we’re having a baby!”
We went to the OB on Tues with high hopes of hearing the heartbeat on the Doppler.  Unfortunately, the MD couldn’t find it.  Even though she said that that was totally normal for 10 weeks, and that only 50% of people can hear the heartbeat- I was in a panic.  I fought back tears all night and couldn’t help listening to Natalie merchant songs on the iPod.  We got a script for an ultrasound and went to the appt the next morning with a decided heaviness.
The sonographer’s name was Regina L- which I took as a good omen (so close to Reggie LaFond!).  She lubed up my belly, put the ultrasound probe on there and VOILA! There it was! A baby! A baby inside of me!
I know that I KNOW that Im pregnant, but I don’t think I really knew til that moment. So I started to cry.
And oh! It was moving all around-the sonographer had a bit of trouble getting a good view of the heartbeat to calculate its rate because of all the moving.  We could watch the little arms and legs moving all about.  Of COURSE our child is already dancing!  (and, according to my friend Lauren- talking up a storm for sure!) She pointed out the placenta, yolk sack, birth canal, my uterus- which looked huge!  And our little papoose!  All 3.6 cm (1.5 inches) of it.  Heart rate= 163/min (see- totally dancing! That’s a cardio rate there baby!)  We got 4 little photos, now on our fridge with pride.   I was so excited to come home and see those photos!  So, in a way, not hearing that heart beat was the best thing to happen to us this week- we got a “free” ultrasound out of the deal and a glimpse of our papoose.  Best Wednesday I’ve ever had!

there it is! I was thinking of photo-shopping the word "velociraptor" over the very obvious "BABY" just for kicks.  It's not the greatest shot, if I had remembered I would have gotten the entire exam on CD because the ultrasound is a constantly moving image so it isn't very clear in a still. Plus, then I'd have proof of the kid's sweet dance moves!
