It's in the middle of no-where.
What I mean is, Pittsburgh is a medium-sized city, surrounded by beautiful country. This means that if you live in Pittsburgh, it is only a short drive out of the city to bucolic wonderment.
This weekend, to celebrate my 29th birthday, Reggie and I took a day trip to Mt Pleasant Township, PA, (about an hour's drive East of the city) to Sand Hill Berries Farm.
The farm produces mainly berries- blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, apples, cherries, and most famously, raspberries.
When we arrived at the farm we were greeted by my namesake animal- a llama! It's a long story, but since I started working at the voice center, I have been known as llama. And now that the staff know about the pregnancy, I am known as "mama llama," which I love.
The farm also has a winery, cafe, and dessert bar where you can sample the pies. There was live music provided by guitar and flute playing, as if they knew I was coming, predominately Beatles tunes! We wandered the gardens, then sat down to a sandwich, fresh figs (to die for!), pellegrino, and amazing black raspberry pie.

In early August, we participated in a grass-fed beef event (basically, you pay, bring a picnic, and eat provided grass-fed beef burgers). We went with a group of friends to another farm (Jamison Farm)east of Pittsburgh in Latrobe, PA for a lovely city-free day.
